The book is the first English publication devoted to the period known as the Golden Age, from the beginning of the 11th to mid-13th century. The fundamental work is based on Georgian, Armenian, Asian and European sources, as well as archaeological, epigraphical and numismatic material. The book is richly illustrated with colour photos of the most significant material monuments.
