Folk fairy tales in Georgia are as popular and interesting today as they were when they were first retold. Surprisingly, folk wisdom has survived for centuries.

Georgian literature has preserved folk tales, legends and fairy tales transmitted orally from generation to generation. Georgian folk tales were first translated into English by Marjory Scott Wardrop. This edition presents samples of Georgian folklore translated by David Hunt.
