Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry" is Tamta Melashvili's third novel. Her debut, "Counting Out", was published in 2010, and "To the East" followed in 2015. "Counting Out" has been translated into German, Italian, Russian, Croatian, Macedonian, and Albanian. The novel won the Saba Literary Prize in 2011 and the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis in 2013. 

Etero, a middle-aged single woman, lives in a small town and works in her own small shop. Nothing seems to threaten her monotonous, peaceful life, but one day an unexpected incident occurs, and her orderly life is turned upside down. Shocked by the fear of death, the woman makes a decision she would never have dared to make at any other time, finding herself entangled in an unexpected love affair.

Amidst the swirl of Etero’s thoughts, experiences, and emotions, the harsh life story of the main character gradually unfolds: the existence in provincial towns—which seems motionless and unchanging at first glance, yet is branded by social and personal difficulties that act destructively on people; the dilemmas the main character suddenly faces; and the final answers to which must ultimately be given by the reader.
